Account Deletion
Effective date: 2026-09-11 Version: 2026-09-11
This page explains how to delete your Chord Collect account and what happens to your data when you do. Chord Collect is developed and operated by Atahan Elmacıoğlu. This page supplements §9 of our Privacy Policy and §15 of our Terms of Service.
1. Delete your account from within the app
- Step 1: Open the Chord Collect app and sign in.
- Step 2: Go to Profile → Account → Delete account.
- Step 3: Enter your password and type the confirmation phrase shown on screen.
- Step 4: If you own a Band Mode group that still has other members, transfer ownership of that group to another member first. The app will prompt you if this applies to you.
- Step 5: Confirm. Deletion happens immediately once you confirm; it is not scheduled for later and cannot be undone by you or by us.
This is available on both the mobile app and the web app, wherever you are signed in.
2. What is deleted
Once you confirm deletion, the following are permanently removed and cannot be restored:
- Your account and profile (email, display name, password)
- Your song library, chord charts, and playlists
- The notes and arrangements you added in Band Mode groups, your membership in those groups, and any group of which you were the only member
- Files you uploaded (PDFs, images, avatar, group photos)
- Your sessions, preferences, favorites, ratings and follows, the product analytics events linked to your account, and the record of when you were online or took part in a live session
- Group invitations addressed to you
- Your customer profile at RevenueCat, the provider that manages subscriptions for us. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription billed by Apple or Google; cancel it in the store
Copies of your Community songs that other users saved to their own libraries before you deleted your account are independent copies and stay in those libraries.
3. What we keep, and for how long
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your account and content | Deleted immediately and permanently |
| A pseudonymized deletion record | Kept indefinitely for abuse prevention and product analytics. It holds a masked e-mail (e.g. a***@example.com), the e-mail domain, the internal identifier of the deleted account, the dates on which the account was created and deleted, its account type and subscription status, the platform the deletion was made from, the number of songs, playlists and groups deleted with it, and the reason and comment you gave for leaving, if you gave one. It never holds your name, your full e-mail address, or any of your content |
| Payment records | Kept indefinitely for accounting, tax and revenue reporting: the amount, currency, store, product, country, transaction identifier and date. They are detached from your account: your account identifier and the raw subscription notification are removed |
| Messages you wrote in the chat of a band that continues to exist | Kept so that the other members' conversation remains readable. They are shown as written by a "Deleted user" and are no longer linked to your account |
| Problem and crash reports you sent us | The technical part (error details, app version, device model) is kept so that we can fix the fault. Your message, your e-mail address, your IP address and the attached log file are deleted, and the report is no longer linked to your account |
| Reports about your content, copyright notices, and content-moderation decisions | Kept for as long as needed to act on them and to track repeat violations. Their link to your account is removed when the account is deleted. Reports that you yourself filed are deleted with your account |
| Backups already made before deletion | Age out on our normal backup schedule, up to 90 days |
| Security and incident logs that happened to reference your account | Kept only as long as needed for incident response, typically no longer than 12 months |
See §6 of our Privacy Policy for the full retention table.
4. If you cannot sign in to request deletion yourself
If you no longer have access to your account (for example, you cannot sign in and have not been able to reset your password), you can still request deletion by contacting [email protected] with the email address associated with the account and enough information for us to verify you are the account holder. We will confirm your identity before deleting the account, and we will complete the request within 30 days.
